#13 Navigating Pregnancy after an Eating Disorder, with Jess Dalliday
Jessica Dalliday is a certified Athletic Therapist, Kinesiologist and Pilates Instructor with a Masters Degree in Kinesiology and Health Science. She has her own blog called the Healthy Sweet Potato, where she shares plant-based recipes, personal growth journeys and fun stories about her golden retriever Allen. She started her blog as a way to connect with others who were passionate about about food and exercise and it slowly turned into a way for her to recover from her eating and exercise disorder.
After she found out that she was not able to have kids because of the way she was treating her body, Jessica made it her mission to recover and share her story with others so they too wouldn’t have to suffer the way she did.
Jess could not be more thrilled to be welcoming a baby into this world (update: Jess had her baby just a couple of days ago!), but pregnancy has come with its own host of body image issues that she thought she had already overcome. Jess has also found that changing her intense exercise regime to doing more “good-for-you” exercise like yoga and Pilates has really helped her mentally cope with the recovery and weight gain.
She recently launched an online subscription website for Pilates classes designed for real women with real bodies called Pilates on Demand and so far it has been going better than expected!
