Farm & Oven Bakery Bites: A delicious way to eat and enjoy your veggies

I am really happy to work with our sponsor Farm and Oven today to share with you why I am all about ADDING foods into your day, instead of taking foods away.

As you know, I am not a huge proponent of any restrictive way of eating. I am a huge fan of eating foods you truly enjoy. Foods that bring you pleasure, nourish your body AND nourish your soul.

Which is why I think you’ll enjoy these bakery bites as much as I do.

Full disclosure: When I first heard about Farm and Oven, I wasn’t quite sold yet.

I was pretty sure they would somewhat taste like vegetables. Since they provide you with 40% of your daily recommendation of vegetables, I couldn’t really imagine that they would taste like a sweet yummy on-the-go snack.

But I can promiseyou now, after trying all the flavors and finishing a whole box of these bites, that they taste like a delicious mix of cake, cookies, brownies and unicorn dust *throws unicorn dust around*

Why I love Farm and Oven bakery bites

Not only do their bakery bites taste SO great, Farm and Oven are also extremely open about their suppliers and where they get their ingredients from, which makes them even more interesting and inspiring of a brand, in my opinion.

You can check out their “farm”-suppliers and their “oven”-suppliers right on their website. Their mission reads:

“We are passionate about making amazingly crave-able foods that make healthy eating joyful.  Let’s be real: we’re not gonna eat foods that we don’t love. At least not for long.”

AMEN and I have even more to say on this topic in terms of my personal experience with eating not-so-enjoyable foods in the name of “health”.

The beginning stages of my Intuitive Eating journey and why I still struggle to “get my veggies in”

During my recovery from my eating disorder, I went through a phase of literally refusing to eat vegetables. It reminded me too much of my dieting days and I wanted nothing to do with them.

I was all “ew, I can’t”… BUT: This was a much-needed phase I needed to go through in order to find balance with food and exercise.

It allowed me to then slowly add back in all of the foods I didn’t allow myself to eat for so many years (salted caramel ice cream, anyone?)…

And sometimes, I still go days without eating vegetables, simply because I don’t feel like it – and that’s okay.

HOWEVER, I am now at a place where I can truly listen to my body and where I am sometimes seriously craving some vegetables. My body likes them, so I want to make sure I do my body a favor by adding them in, in addition to all the other yummy foods I eat.

Eating Farm and Oven bakery bites is an easy and convenient way for me to add those veggies in.

Why eating vegetables doesn’t have to feel daunting or diet-y

Vegetables are good for us, there’s no doubt about it.

However, I know what it feels like to force vegetables you don’t enjoy down your throat, just to feel better about yourself.

I remember eating broccoli that I boiled in water, without any seasonings and forcing it down, just to make sure I’d “get my greens in”.

Don’t do that, girl!

It caused me to develop a temporary default mini-vomit reaction, whenever I would think about broccoli. For years…

Now I think of vegetables as an addition to all the yummy foods I eat every day.

Vegetables don’t have to be bland, boring and mini-vomit producing 😉

Farm and Oven is a great way for me to add more veggies in, without feeling like I am forcing it, and also enjoying them as a tasty snack I can have whenever I need something to grab on the go.

Nobody likes to be hangry, so next time you want to have a cake-y, unicorn dust-y snack, try these yummy bakery bites (and thank me later)!

Let’s get a taste of all the flavors! (bonus: they are officially husband-approved!)

Zucchini Lemon Poppy Seed

Hands down my favourite flavor, who would have guessed? I am not a huge fan of zucchini or desserts with lemon, so it really surprised me just how much I loved this flavor. It’s the perfect snack. Not too sweet, not too tangy, just a perfect balance of flavors that resembles the texture of a muffin.

I always like to carry one of those in my purse, because they are SUCH a satisfying snack!

Beet Dark Chocolate

Although they don’t taste like beet, but more like a dark chocolate brownie, they do have the nutty, earthy flavor of beet in them, which makes the combination ooey-gooey delicious. Definitely one of my favourites too, because they are the ones that resemble a brownie the most – and you know how much I love a good brownie!

Carrot Cinnamon

Carrot cake is one of my favourite cakes – partly because of the cream cheese frosting, not gonna lie – but I LOVE the texture and hint of carroty sweetness in carrot cake. Needless to say, this flavor tastes a lot like carrot cake, so it instantly stole my heart. Absolutely recommend if you are a fan!

Pumpkin Maple Pecan

This flavor reminds me of my beloved pumpkin-spice-latte season – I know, I am so basic. It’s probably the sweetest kind out of the four. It tastes like a mix of pumpkin pie and pecan pie.

Eating it reminds me of the cozy feeling I get when holiday season kicks off.

The texture is the most dense and *gasp*, moist one out of the four. Yum!
